The craftspeople of HARIO, a heat-resistance glass manufacturing company founded in 1921, started to making glass accessories to inherit their craft. They are all handmade at Nihonbashi (Tokyo) and 6 other factories around the country. They can be repaired if broken.
The HARIO craft, dating back to 1921
Since 1921, we have been making glass for over 90 years. Originally our craftspeople made laboratory equipment and tableware hand by hand. Gradually machine production evolved, and there have been less people inside the factories nowadays. We started this brand to go back to our roots, provide handmade products, and inherit the handmade craft to the next generation. We will continue to breathe life into the very pure material of "heat-resistant glass."
Shapes possible because it's heat-resistance glass
"Heat-resistance glass" made by HARIO is not only strong against heat. The glass can be stretched, connected, and is easy to shape. Using those characteristics, it is possible to create delicate designs. It is also very light in weight compared to normal glass, and will be less of a stress wearing it.
Crafted hand by hand
Here at HARIO Lampwork Factory, the craftspeople make every accessory hand by hand. By continuing to craft through hand, we can raise the level of our craftspeople, leading to new craft and products.
Repairing broken accessories
Glass will break when it is dropped or applied strong impact. "Heat-resistance glass" can be repaired. If broken, please have it repaired as we will be very happy to see it being used for a long time. Metal parts are also available for repair or replacement, if it is degraded or broken.
